Events National Air Races Hangar 5 East Side, 150 Boeing Way 817-491-4055 National Air Races The National Air Races are cross country speed air races open to all qualified aircraft and pilots. At least three events are held each year and teams may compete in 1, 2 or all the races. Divisions for PSR. Pilot Skilled Racing and APR, Aircraft Performance Racing are both offered. Founded by famed pilot, Marion Jayne in 1994, the races have a perfect safety record of over a half million miles. Jayne was named as a 100 Aviation Hero for the first century of flight at the 2003 Kitty Hawk celebration and is known for her many aviation contributions including the 1994 FAI Gold Medal performance with her daughter Pat Keefer in the longest race in history, 24 days around the world. Jayne also holds the world record for the most cross country speed air race victories. Her Piper Twin Comanche, the only U.S. aircraft to have raced twice around the world, is based at 52F.
